2023 Black History Month Contest!
OHS students will be honored at a ceremony on Thursday, April 6th at 5pm at SLP School Board for winning the Black History Month contest sponsored by the Retired Educators Association of St. Landry Parish. In the High School Category, Markiesha Lagrange placed 2nd, Mykelti Thurman placed 3rd, and Myke Francis earned Honorable Mention.
Attention all Parents/Guardians of future and current Opelousas Sr. High School Tigers! The Staff and Administration would like to invite you to our TIGER NIGHT!! This event is designed for incoming parents and students to see all the many things OHS has to offer! In addition, we will have a special session for all current 9th-12th grade parents to discuss the importance of testing and how it affects promotion! Please join us on Wednesday April 5th at 6:00pm. This is an event you don't want to miss!!

JUMPSTART SUMMERS PROGRAM APPLICATIONS
~Open to all current students enrolled in St. Landry Parish public schools in 9th through 12th grade (MEDIA ARTS is open to students in grades 7-12)
~ Courses are designed to prepare students for careers involving specialized skill sets.
~Students can earn up to $2,000.00 depending on the program.
~Program begins May 30th and ends August 1st.
~Program contingent on the number of applicants.
~The application will close on May 5th.

Bus 580 is not running this morning according to the Transportation Department. Students will need to find transport to school, but if they cannot find a ride their absence will be excused with a parental note.

Report cards were issued in the 7th hour classes today, 3/24. If a student did not receive their report card today, they can pick it up Monday 3/27 from their 7th hour teacher.

Kindergarten Registration for new students to St. Landry Parish is now online. Please share the following information with anyone wishing to newly enroll their child in kindergarten in St. Landry Parish School District.
Who can enroll?
~Your child is eligible if he/she is a new kindergarten student to St. Landry Parish Schools in the 2023-2024 school year.
~Your child is eligible if he/she is five years of age by September 30, 2023.
~Your child is eligible if he or she was born between Oct. 1, 2017, and September 30, 2018.
~Your child is eligible if he/she is a current SLP Head Start Student who qualifies with age.
