Congratulations to the North Central High School Boys Basketball Team! 🏀🏀🏀🏀 The Hurricanes will be playing for the State Championship on Friday, March 11, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles, LA. Superintendent Jenkins has approved a school closure for the North Central High School zone on Friday, March 11, 2022. This school closure impacts the following schools--North Central High, Palmetto Elementary, Washington Elementary, and the Head Start centers of the zone. ****Students based at NCHS/Washington Elementary/Palmetto Elementary who attend CAPS, SLATS, MACA, and Washington Career Center will be excused from classes on March 11, 2022.

A MESSAGE FROM SLPSB: At the St. Landry Parish School Board Meeting last night, the Board voted to make mask wearing optional at schools, district facilities, and on the school bus. This Board action is effective immediately.

MACA will continue to accept applications into March. Students entering 7th-12th grade in the 2022-2023 school year and interested in creative writing, theatre, dance, band, chorus, or art are eligible to apply. TALENT EDUCATION If you suspect your child of having Talented characteristics in MUSIC, THEATRE AND/OR VISUAL ART contact your child’s school for a referral to the School Building Level Committee. Talented referrals and evaluations are only conducted once a year in the Spring.

This application is open to all current students enrolled in St. Landry Parish public schools in 8th through 12th grade. Jump Start Afterhours CompTIA + will be offered online only (with the option of testing in-person if needed), and requires an internet connection and a Chromebook. The program will begin around November 8, 2021, and end on May 26, 2022. Program contingent on the number of applicants. The application will close on October 29, 2021. This course is designed to help you learn more about the digital world. If you are interested in Computer Science and/or Technology this is the course for you.
