Testing for Dollars

We hope the K-12 Testing Program is going well so far for everyone involved. We sincerely appreciate your support and patience while our teams become familiar with each campus and establish an efficient collection process that can become part of your weekly routine.

The benefits can already be seen with over 70% of positive cases occurring during that first week a school participates. The highest number of positive results at any school has been only two individuals after that initial week of testing.

We are excited to watch each school's participation grow. Please keep sharing information about the program on your social media and any newsletters. Printouts to send home with students are a great idea to remind parents who have not registered their child yet. Feel free to share our website where each school's registration links are listed along with our FAQs and information on the program. Below are some important updates and information about the program.

Incentives for Teachers, Staff and Students
Attached is a brochure on the participant incentive program that describes how LDH will be distributing the monetary incentives to each participant. Each participant will receive an email to activate their virtual VISA card as below within the next 60 days. For any additional questions once the email is received, please contact Greenphire at (866) 952-3795.

All participants in the K-12 Testing Program are eligible for the incentives.

Consent must be provided during Color registration by the parent/guardian if the participant is under 18 years of age.

Virtual payments will be delivered to the email address provided during registration.

The payments will be uploaded to the cards at the end of every month.

For the first test of the year, participants will receive $25.00.

For every test taken after the initial payment, participants will receive $10.00.

SLPSB Post Secondary Carousel

Greetings! You are cordially invited to attend the St. Landry Parish School System’s Post-Secondary Carousel on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Opelousas High School; 1014 Judson Walsh Dr., Opelousas, LA 70570.

Post-Secondary Carousel is an academic event for 11th and 12th grade students and parents to learn about the multiple post-secondary institutions available to students after high school graduation. At this event, students and parents will have the opportunity to visit with and ask questions of the 40+ pre-registered universities, community colleges, technical colleges, proprietary schools, and military institutions. These recruiters will be available to help the students and parents work to develop future career plans in order for them to reach their desired lifestyle.

In addition, the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance (LOSFA) will be on hand to provide students and parents with timely information on financial assistance for post-secondary options.

As we are ensuring compliance with COVID-19 requirements, all participants will be required to complete a temperature check/screening upon arrival at Opelousas High School. Face masks/coverings are required for all attendees. Social distancing will be enforced for all participants.

To register your child’s participation in this year’s event, you will need to complete the registration form by no later than October 4, 2021. (Click link to Register)

If you have any questions, please contact Angela Cassimere, Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment at 337-948-3657, ext. 10256 or your high school’s guidance
